Calcium Fluoride (CaF₂): Transmits from deep UV (130nm) to mid - IR (12μm) with low absorption and high laser damage threshold. Used in excimer laser optics, lithography lenses, and IR windows.
Calcium Fluoride (CaF2) is a tetragonal positive birefringent crystal.MgF2 has good chemical, mechanical and thermal characteristics compared with CaF2.Due to its high vacuum UV transmission and high damage threshold,MgF2 is usually used in VUV andexcimer laser windows, polarizers, lenses and etc.
CaF2 Windows are made from Calcium Fluoride material, which has transparent range from 170-7800nm. The refractive index is 1.399 at 5000nm. It has little hygroscopic susceptibility and high thermal expansion coefficient. CaF2 Windows are relatively soft and somewhat hygroscopic so polishing, coating and handling are more critical than UV Fused Silica windows.
